Online Store Upgrade / Migration And Logo Design

Cabinet Parts Direct is an online store that sells parts for Kitchens and Cabinetry. Their site was originally done using OsCommerce and NearSource, Inc was hired to provide maintenance services for the site. Over time the site was starting to have many security holes and vulnerabilities due to it's outdated OsCommerce platform. After doing an assesment both the client and NearSource decided that it was a more cost effective solution to migrate the site to a newer shopping cart platform. The open source Magento platform was chosen for this project.

The client took the opportunity to change the site design completely and create a logo for the company. NearSource proposed the idea of using a pre-built template and customizing it with different colors and CSS styles that would go with the Logo. After NearSource designed a Logo and got approval from the client, several template options were shown to the client. The client then chose a template and NearSource proceeded with the customizations.

To further assist with the migration process and reduce manual catalog editing by the client, NearSource used a 3rd party service Cart2Cart that was able to export the product catalog from OsCommerce to Magento. To fit the clients needs, several available Magento plug-ins were implemented for the site such as

- File Download & Product Attachments: A plugin that allows to add downloadable files and documents for each product (for manuals, brochures, etc).
- Configurable Product: A plugin that allows the system to handle configurable products that can have different options/add-ons and have different prices for each one.

In addition to the Logo Design, Magento Template Customization and Magento site setup, NearSource provided several training sessions on how to use the Magento back-end (track orders, edit catalog, etc) and setup the shipping settings and Tax rate settings. Currently NearSource hosts the site, providers customer and site support, and working with SEO specialists to improve site ranking and visibility.
